Pillowy Soft Garlic Breadsticks

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons Warm Water
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1-3/4 teaspoons Kosher Salt
  • 3 Cups Bread Flour

Garlic Butter

  • 3 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian Seasoning

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F
  • In a small bowl, warm water to 110-115 degrees F
  • Add sugar and yeast to warm water.  Stir gently to combine and allow to proof.  If yeast does not proof, try again
  • In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, combine proofed yeast and the remaining ingredients for the dough except for the flour
  • On low speed, gradually add flour. Increase speed to medium and knead dough for 7 minutes until smooth and elastic
  • Remove dough to a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a damp towel. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 1/2 hours
  • Divide dough into 12 portions. Roll each piece of dough into a 7-inch log. Place dough logs on a nonstick baking mat or parchment-lined baking sheets, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour
  • Bake for about 12 minutes or until golden brown 
  • Meanwhile, combine butter, salt, and garlic powder in a small bowl
  • Remove the breadsticks from the oven and immediately brush with butter mixture. Serve warm
